SPRING 2005 PROGRAM - MCOS 10th Anniversary Concert
Sat. April 2, 2005, 8:00pm, Unitarian Church of Montpelier
Sun. April 3, 2005, 4:00pm, Unitarian Church of Montpelier
Come celebrate MCOS's 10th anniversary spring concert: EVOLUTION. Since the group began with a desire to give string players a special home, it is honoring those roots with a program of all-string music. The music takes place in Rome-1714, Hamburg-1773, Berlin-1821, Prague-1875, Frankfurt-1927, and Cabot, Vt.-2005, thus spanning almost 300 years of differing styles in our musical evolution (Corelli, CPE Bach, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Hindemith, Huling). To honor MCOS's founding director Diane Huling, the orchestra has commissioned her to compose a work for strings which will receive its world premier at these concerts. MCOS has also invited Vermonter now-college student at Baltimore's Peabody Conservatory Jesse Irons & two friends to solo with the orchestra.
