¡ Viva La Marimba !

Our Fall 2018 concert series saw two packed houses at the VCFA Chapel, one amazing Marimba soloist performing a concerto by a composer from the country where the Marimba originated (Guatemala), a dozen children seated in front of that Marimba, many familiar faces in the audience, some fifty musicians dressed in black, and one thankful music director!  Anne Decker, led the orchestra in folk music from Alberto Ginastera's Dances from Estancia op. 8a (Argentina, 1941) and the American premiere of Mexican composer Diana Syrse's Colección de Realidades (Mexico, 2012). Finishing off the concert was Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, D. 759, B minor (Unfinished). With a little help from our Concession Sponsor, Nutty Steph's, we raffled off some Magic Chunks, while our annual Instant Wine Cellar Raffle came to a close. What a weekend to remember!
